Job Description Job Description Our Environmental Group - Resource Management Team based out of the Orange County and Pasadena office has an immediate opportunity for a talented Wildlife Biologist - On Call . About being our Wildlife Biologist - On Call This position would primarily support work generated by our Environmental Group based out of the Orange County and Pasadena offices, but may also support other Psomas offices as needed. As an On-call Biologist , this position would be overseen by a Project Manager or Biological Resources Manager within our Resource Management Team. This position would primarily be an as-needed field position conducting pre-activity surveys, nesting bird surveys, focused surveys (depending on qualifications), and/or biological monitoring, with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time position. This position may also work with a team of biologists to accomplish focused surveys or other field tasks. The Biologist would be also expected to prepare monitoring forms and possibly short letter reports (with guidance). A Biologist permitted/qualified to survey for California gnatcatcher, least Bell's vireo, and/or to handle special status amphibians and reptiles would be a definite plus. Responsibility Highlights for our Wildlife Biologist - On Call * Conduct biological surveys, such as nesting bird surveys * Conduct pre-construction surveys and biological monitoring * Conduct worker environmental awareness program training as needed for construction staff * Familiarity in the identification of biological resources of Southern California * Prepare reports/forms with accuracy, clarity, and completeness * Interact with construction personnel (with support from Project Manager as needed) Minimum Qualifications to be our Wildlife Biologist - On Call * A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Wildlife Biology, or related environmental discipline * Minimum of 1 year experience as a Wildlife Biologist, or comparable wildlife watching experience * Familiarity with common plant species in Southern California * Familiarity with common wildlife species in Southern California * Prior experience conducting biological fieldwork or hiking experience * Ability to drive in offroad conditions, including potentially remote, rugged, and undeveloped terrain * Ability to conduct field work for long days, as needed * Physically fit to navigate potentially rugged conditions on foot while carrying supplies Highlighted Benefits for our Wildlife Biologist - On Call With a people-first philosophy, we continue to embrace initiatives for a forward-thinking, modern-day workplace.
